A Velvet Horizon Confession
We don’t like the word waste, do we?
It feels harsh. Shame-heavy. Like we’ve already failed.
But sometimes it’s the honesty we need.
Because somewhere between divine flow and digital scroll,
between to-do lists and “just five more minutes,”
we lose time like it’s loose change in a velvet robe pocket.
So—where does yours go?
Mine?
In tabs I never close.
In conversations I rehearse but never have.
In those moments where I pick up my phone for one reason
… and forget it by the time I’m checking who liked what.
And sometimes…
it’s not time I’m wasting.
It’s presence.
It’s peace.
I’m not being lazy.
I’m leaking.
Leaking into other people’s thoughts.
Leaking into algorithms.
Leaking into a rhythm that isn’t mine.
But here’s the thing:
Not every pause is a problem.
Not every “waste” is wasted.
Some distractions are disguised protection.
Some delays are your soul’s way of saying “not yet.”
Still… awareness is everything.
So ask yourself gently—
Where do I disappear?
What habit devours me, quietly, daily?
What am I doing when I feel furthest from myself?
Don’t answer too fast.
Sit with it. Let your nervous system tell the truth.
Then reclaim.
